The company Canopus P.C. (hereinafter "we", "us") is formally responsible for data processing in connection with the operation of checkip.gr. Contact: contact@checkip.gr This page exists for purely formal reasons and compliance with the law.

2. Our Philosophy: Zero Data Collection

We do not collect, store or sell user data. checkip.gr is built from the ground up with privacy as a core principle. No personal data is stored on our servers, shared with advertisers, or used for commercial purposes of any kind.

The only data used during your visit is:

  • IP Address: Read automatically upon your visit to provide the website's services (IP display, geolocation, VPN/Proxy detection). It is never stored on any of our servers.
  • Temporary cache data: Stored locally in your browser (localStorage) for up to 1 hour, solely to improve response times. Automatically deleted after 1 hour.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

checkip.gr - as its very name suggests - exists to show visitors information about their own IP address and online privacy. By choosing to visit the website, you implicitly give your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) to the use of your IP address for exactly that purpose: to display it to you along with the network information you are requesting.

Processing is also based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in the technical operation of the service.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the website. Each receives your IP address solely for the purpose stated and is governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Cloudflare Inc. (USA): CDN, DNS, DDoS protection. Processes your IP as a data processor. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
  • Oracle Corporation: Cloud infrastructure, hosting and DNS services. Oracle Privacy Policy
  • GeoJS: IP geolocation service. Receives your IP to determine geographic location. GeoJS Privacy Policy
  • IPLocate: VPN/Proxy detection service. Receives your IP to check for anonymisation, with the result cached locally in your browser for up to 1 hour. IPLocate Privacy Policy

5. Data Retention

We do not store any data on our own servers. Temporary cache data in your browser is automatically deleted after 1 hour.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectification of inaccurate data
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restriction of processing
  • Data portability
  • Object to processing

7. Security

We use HTTPS encryption and Cloudflare / Oracle infrastructure. Since we store no personal data on our own servers, the risk of a data breach on our end is zero.
